Meet Narell – Bespoke Jewellery Design and Marketing

Without the talented team here at W&W we wouldn’t be able to create the striking bespoke designs for which we have become renowned. From gemstone experts to design connoisseurs, our small but mighty team offers a wealth of bespoke jewellery knowledge and creative flair. Read on to meet Narell, who is work in Bespoke Jewellery Design and Marketing at W&W…

Tell us a bit about your role at W&W and your experience in the bespoke jewellery industry…

My job role is Bespoke Jewellery Design and Marketing, which means I am a key part of the design process here at W&W. As a jewellery designer I am responsible for ensuring that I help create vision for our clients, bringing their ideas and wishes together to design a beautiful piece of custom jewellery which truly encapsulates the person it has been created for.

My experience in the jewellery industry is very broad, from working behind the bench and going to international trade shows, to attaining my Graduate Gemmology degree at GIA and working as a creative and brand assistant for a big jewellery house. All of which have helped me with my understanding of what is possible when designing bespoke jewellery.

I am also responsible for all the images and videos that you see on our social media accounts as well as sketching out design proposals for our customers.

You joined the team in April 2021, what do you love about working at W&W and what has been your highlight so far?

I love that we are a small team and therefore all work closely together, combining all our expertise to create beautiful and unique pieces of jewellery. It is very special to be involved in each part of the jewellery journey that signifies such special moments in our customers’ lives.

The highlight when working on any piece is seeing a design come alive. From the brainstorming stage and the initial sketches right through to having the finished piece in front of me. A commission that was particularly exciting for me was the first W&W design project I was ever involved with – a ring I truly fell head-over-heels for. This piece featured the most incredible vibrant blue sapphire, set in rich gold with trapeze cut diamonds at either side. It was lovely to see the ring take shape and witness our happy client setting eyes on it for the first time.

What do you think it is that makes W&W unique in the world of bespoke jewellery?

I think the whole team at W&W make a point of really listening to our clients. Instead of trying to guide towards current trends or our preferences, we dedicate time to really learn about each person’s likes and dislikes, taking into account their style and what makes them tick. We then translate this into beautiful jewellery, personal and specific to each individual.

By listening and caring about their wants, needs and visions we are able to deliver a unique piece of jewellery every single time.

Tell us about your all-time favourite piece of jewellery and why you love it?

As a jewellery designer and creative it is hard for me to pick an all-time favourite as there is just so much beauty out there. I appreciate just about everything from heavy modernist and brutalist pieces to intricate jewellery with the most gorgeous gemstones. I appreciate the flowing shapes of George Jenson as well as the fine high jewellery pieces from Van Cleef and Arpels and Cartier. On top of that I have always been fascinated by antique jewellery, the meaningful Georgian and Victorian jewellery with their hidden messages and wonderful mechanisms.
