Created as a beautiful 50th birthday gift, this bespoke set of five white gold bangles was designed to celebrate family, heritage and connection through meaningful gemstones and thoughtful design.
The commission began when our client brought a treasured family bangle into the studio as inspiration. Rather than directly replicating the piece, the aim was to reinterpret its sentiment into a refined contemporary collection, with each bangle carrying its own individual symbolism while still feeling cohesive together.
At the centre of the set sits the main bangle, featuring an oval-cut diamond flanked by two round brilliant-cut diamonds. This design represents his wife and their two daughters. As all three are Aries, diamonds were chosen as their shared birthstone, adding another layer of meaning to the piece.
The two outer bangles, each set with a single bezel-set diamond, were designed as individual bangles for each daughter. Although gifted to his wife for her birthday, there was always the intention that the bangles may one day be passed down to the girls themselves, transforming the commission into a future family heirloom.
The remaining two bangles introduced coloured gemstones connected to the couple’s backgrounds and story. One features a vibrant round opal, chosen to represent Australia, where his wife grew up. The final bangle is set with a rich green garnet as a subtle nod to his Hungarian and her Austrian heritage.
Simon sourced a beautiful selection of gemstones for the client to choose from, ensuring every stone felt personal and considered. The bangles themselves were crafted in polished white gold with elegant flowing profiles and delicate settings that allow the gemstones and symbolism to remain the focus.
Although the commission worked to a tight timeframe, the full collection was completed in time for the birthday celebration and was incredibly well received when gifted.
