Some designs are defined by their subtleties – the way tone, proportion and light come together to create perfect balance. For this bespoke commission, the couple visited our Clapham studio together to design an engagement ring that felt both classic and refreshing. While the oval-cut diamond at the centre was always going to be the star of the piece, the real focus of the design process was finding the perfect shade of aquamarine for the pear-cut side stones.
Rather than a deep or saturated blue, she envisioned a cool, crystalline hue – an aquamarine that evoked the clarity of ice rather than the depth of the sea. It was important to her that the stones felt fresh, light, and luminous against the diamond’s brilliance. We sourced a carefully curated selection of pear-cut aquamarines, comparing not only their colour but also their shape ratios and tonal harmony with the diamond. Every stone was viewed in natural light to ensure that the final pairing achieved the effortlessly pale, icy tone she loved.
We also explored a range of oval-cut diamonds, refining the proportions until the centre stone sat perfectly between the two aquamarines. Once the stones were selected, it was over to Narell to bring the design to life, designing a clean and contemporary setting that highlighted their soft symmetry.
Crafted in platinum for its strength and brightness, this bespoke three-stone ring celebrates subtlety and precision. The cool palette of diamond and aquamarine creates a refined yet distinctive aesthetic – a modern take on a classic composition, designed and handcrafted in the heart of London.
