When the time came for him to take the next big step in his relationship, he returned to our Battersea studio without hesitation, ready to begin the journey to craft a bespoke oval diamond engagement ring for his partner.

He arrived with a strong instinct for what he wanted. The centre stone would be an oval – a shape he associated with elegance, elongation, and a soft, modern brilliance. A diamond-set band would complete the look, adding light and movement without taking attention away from the main diamond. With these two elements as our starting point, the rest of the design unfolded naturally.

Simon guided him through a curated selection of our previous commissions to explore proportion, setting styles, and band widths. Together they refined the balance between subtlety and sparkle, shaping the foundations of a yellow gold oval solitaire engagement ring that felt both classic and unmistakably personal.

From there, Simon sourced a range of oval diamonds, each with its own character – different lengths, facet structures and different ways of catching the light. Seeing the stones side by side allowed our client to connect with one in particular: the diamond that felt “just right”, both aesthetically and emotionally.
