This bespoke three stone engagement ring began with a phone call. He had been recommended to our Clapham jewellery studio by an existing client and wanted to create something timeless, personal and quietly striking. After our initial conversation, the couple both joined us for the first design appointment so she could be involved in shaping the direction of the ring.
During the consultation, we explored a series of bespoke engagement ring designs, focusing on proportion, stone shape and overall balance. She was immediately drawn to the elegance of an oval diamond engagement ring with round brilliant side stones – a classic three stone composition that felt both romantic and refined.
Once the principal design was agreed, he chose to continue the process independently. From that point, he selected the individual diamonds and confirmed the final specifications, ensuring the finished custom engagement ring would still hold an element of surprise.
With a smaller finger size, proportion was crucial. The oval centre diamond was selected for its elongating effect, creating graceful length across the hand. The round side stones were carefully calibrated to complement the oval without adding unnecessary width, allowing the three stone engagement ring to feel balanced rather than overpowering.
The ring was crafted in warm 18ct yellow gold with platinum claws, enhancing the brilliance of the diamonds while maintaining a timeless aesthetic. The combination of metals adds subtle contrast, keeping the design fresh yet enduring.
This oval three stone engagement ring reflects the essence of bespoke design in London – collaborative in spirit, precise in execution and quietly elegant in its final form.
