This custom three row eternity ring was created to mark a deeply personal milestone – the celebration of a growing family. Having previously designed and crafted both an engagement ring and wedding ring for this client, we were honoured to be asked to create a new piece to reflect this next chapter: becoming a family of five.
The concept for the ring was led entirely by her husband, who wished to surprise her with a meaningful and lasting gift. Inspired by their three children, the design centres around the inclusion of their birthstones, garnet, alexandrite, and tanzanite, each representing a child. These richly coloured gemstones were combined with brilliant cut diamonds, introducing light and contrast within a carefully balanced red, green, and blue palette.
Bringing multiple coloured gemstones together within a single piece can be a complex design challenge. The success of the ring lies in its sense of harmony—ensuring that no single colour dominates, while allowing each stone to remain distinct and recognisable. To achieve this, the gemstones were arranged across three rows, interspersed with diamonds to create rhythm, brightness, and cohesion throughout the design.
The setting style draws from the language of her existing engagement and wedding rings, ensuring continuity across the set while allowing this piece to stand confidently on its own. Crafted in platinum, the proportions of the ring were intentionally made slightly more generous, giving the design presence while maintaining a refined and wearable silhouette. The setting itself was crucial, designed to hold the complexity of colour in a clean and structured way, allowing the overall finish to feel polished and considered rather than overwhelming.
The result is a bespoke eternity ring that feels both vibrant and personal, a piece that captures family, memory, and meaning within a contemporary design.
Presented to our client as a birthday surprise, the ring marked not only a celebration of their children, but also the continuation of a story we have been privileged to be part of from the very beginning.
