This commission began with a beautiful family connection. His mother, an existing W&W client and a familiar face at our Battersea studio, introduced him to us when he began his search for the perfect engagement ring. From the outset, he wanted the design to feel personal and symbolic – a contemporary ring that would still hold strong ties to his family’s story.

We explored a selection of oval and round-cut emeralds for the centre stone, balancing tone and vibrancy until we found the perfect gem to complement two old-cut diamonds from his grandmother’s ring. By resetting heirloom stones into a new design, the ring carries forward three generations of sentiment – past, present, and future united in one timeless piece.

The final custom engagement ring is a contemporary twist on a classic three-stone ring, with sculptural curves and refined proportions giving the piece a bold yet elegant presence. A trio of softly contoured gold bands flow together seamlessly, holding each stone in smooth, protective bezel settings. The central vivid green emerald is flanked by the two inherited diamonds, their antique sparkle creating a striking contrast against the lush depth of the emerald. Crafted entirely in 18ct yellow gold, the design enhances the emerald’s rich tone while radiating warmth and character – a perfect reflection of his partner’s personality and the heritage it represents.
