Every so often, a brief arrives that feels wonderfully clear in sentiment, yet beautifully open in possibility. Louis came to us wishing to create an engagement ring for his partner, Plum. He wanted the entire process to be top secret so that the moment he proposed would be a complete surprise. He had a vision of a ring crafted in rich yellow gold and set with diamonds, a piece designed to be practical, smooth and yet generous in proportion. His brief was for us to design an engagement ring that was comfortable, yet quietly luxurious. Something that he knew Plum would love.
We began by exploring solitaire-based ideas, but as the conversation evolved, it became clear that what Louis truly wanted was a band that carried presence – a piece that would feel substantial and full of light from every angle.
A classic diamond-set band offered a starting point, but it did not yet feel unique enough for their story. We then introduced Louis to one of our goldsmith’s signature designs – a technique refined over many years and requiring immense skill. The concept layers a row of feature round brilliant diamonds across the top of the band, and beneath each one, a fine constellation of underset smaller diamonds. These seamlessly fill the spaces between, ensuring the ring is uninterrupted in brilliance and sparkle, smooth to the touch, and exquisitely balanced. The result is a band that appears simple at first, yet reveals extraordinary craftsmanship upon closer look. Louis loved the idea.
The finished eternity style diamond engagement ring was created to our goldsmith’s impeccable standards: weighty yet refined, timeless yet distinctive, and bursting with light. It is a piece designed to be worn every day, to move effortlessly with the hand, and feel as though it has always belonged.
Louis proposed on top of a mountain in Austria with sweeping views and clear skies – the perfect moment. Plum was completely taken by surprise, making the occasion even more special.
A ring crafted purely to reflect their story, and now part of the chapter they will build together.
