Interested in designing a meaningful engagement ring, our client reached out to us on the warm recommendation of his mother – a cherished client of ours. It was, in fact, her ring that first caught his partner’s eye. With its timeless elegance and sentimental weight, it became the spark for this bespoke commission.

At the heart of the design is a striking old cut diamond, reclaimed from a family brooch. Brimming with character and fire, the stone offered a beautiful foundation for a one-of-a-kind solitaire engagement ring.

During the design process, we explored a range of elegant solitaire styles, tailored to enhance the proportions and charm of an old cut diamond. From interwoven bands and tapered profiles to wed-fit considerations and full and partial rubover settings, we shared an array of handpicked design visuals for review.

Our client loved the top view of one design and the profile of another. Narell translated this unique pairing into a bespoke hand-rendered drawing, incorporating the diamond and finessing the details until the proportions felt just right.

The final design features a full rubover setting that encircles the antique diamond in platinum, with a gently tapered band. The piece was brought to life by our trusted goldsmith and completed with the same care and attention that guided every step of the process.

Handled from start to finish in our Battersea studio, just a short walk from Clapham Junction, this quietly bold solitaire now marks an exciting new chapter in their shared story.
