For some clients, the design journey begins long before they step into the studio. This commission started when he reached out after spending time searching for the perfect ring without success. What stood out to him from the outset was how we approached his enquiry with a collaborative and personalised process that helped him start to visualise what was possible.
We created an image board showcasing some of our previous bespoke engagement ring designs and design concepts, while he sent through examples of pieces he thought his girlfriend would love. This early “design brainstorm” became a creative back-and-forth, refining ideas and exploring possibilities before we had even met in person.
One thing was certain from the start: the ring would be crafted in yellow gold. The centre stone was still under consideration – oval or round – with side stones in pear, oval, or round cuts. What he knew for sure was that it would be more than a single-stone design. When he visited our Clapham–Battersea studio, we presented a carefully curated selection of diamonds. Seeing them in person proved to be the turning point and was the moment he knew exactly which direction to take.
The final design featured a striking oval diamond flanked by a trefoil arrangement of pear and round brilliant cut diamonds, their sparkle cascading elegantly down each shoulder. The warm glow of the yellow gold band added depth and richness, perfectly complementing the brilliance of the diamonds.
He proposed in Menorca, hiring a boat to take them to a secluded beach under the guise of a birthday celebration. With only one other couple present, the moment was private and unforgettable – the perfect setting for a proposal that felt as thoughtfully crafted as the ring itself.
