Breathing new life into a family heirloom

At W&W Jewellery, we take pride in crafting bespoke jewellery that tells personal stories. Recently, we had the pleasure of helping a client who was referred to us by one of her colleagues, an existing client of ours. She approached us with a cherished family heirloom – a ring that had seen many years of wear and held significant sentimental value. Her wish was to recreate this treasured piece, ensuring it could be worn and admired for many more years to come.

Remodelled with a gentle touch

Understanding the deep personal connection to the original design, we worked to replicate the ring faithfully, crafting a piece that would resonate with her on a personal level, much like the original. To honour the legacy of the heirloom, we reused many of the original diamonds and introduced carefully chosen new gemstones to enhance its beauty. After thoughtful consideration, we advised against using the original gold from the ring, suggesting instead that it could be fashioned into a simple band in the future, preserving its sentimental value.

A considered selection of gemstones

In our commitment to enhancing the original design, we curated a selection of new gemstones for her to choose from. She was drawn to purple and green sapphires, which we seamlessly incorporated into the new design. An unexpected outcome of the additional gemstones is that the ring’s colour palette now echos the hues of suffragette jewellery – purple, white, and green. Historically, these colours symbolise loyalty and dignity (purple), purity (white), and hope (green). This serendipitous association added another layer of meaning for the client, as the piece has and will be passed down through the female line of her family.

A joyful reunion

Seeing the finished ring on our client’s freshly manicured hand was a rewarding moment. She was absolutely delighted with the outcome and could not wait to wear it. A beautiful example of custom design blended perfectly with cherished memories, resulting in a piece of bespoke jewellery that tells a unique and beautiful story.
