Maeve got in touch with us just before Christmas, looking to create a diamond custom engagement ring that would incorporate a selection of diamonds inherited by her partner, Nico. The couple had a clear vision from the start – they wanted something substantial, thoughtfully designed, and truly unique. It was important to them that the ring sat beautifully on Maeve’s hand, while reflecting their personal story and connection.

Richard met with them in early January, just before our London jewellery studio officially reopened for the year. Nico’s inherited diamonds varied in size, offering the opportunity for a creative and custom approach to the design. Maeve and Nico explored several ideas, including introducing yellow gold and combining the heirloom stones with newly sourced diamonds. To help bring their ideas to life, our jewellery designer Narell created three bespoke design variations, each exploring a different way of showcasing the inherited diamonds.

Among the options, the couple were drawn to a striking and architectural platinum design featuring a central row of baguette cut diamonds, flanked by Nico’s heirloom stones set across three rows. We took great care in selecting baguette diamonds that complemented the proportions of the inherited stones. The ring was developed in CAD, and several 3D printed prototypes were produced to refine the height, balance, and placement of each diamond. This allowed Maeve to try on the model and visualise the final scale on her hand.

Once the design was finalised, the ring was expertly crafted in platinum. The finished piece is bold, refined, and radiant with meaning. Maeve and Nico were overjoyed with their custom engagement ring – a striking celebration of love and legacy, crafted in the heart of London.
