When our client first reached out to us, she brought with her a treasure from the past in the form of an antique two-stone ring set with a dazzling old cut diamond and a deep blue sapphire. The ring was a family heirloom, full of history and sentiment. Yet, its traditional crossover design did not quite feel like her style. She wanted something fresh, modern, and unique – a custom ring that celebrated the origins of her family heirloom but suited her style.

We began by exploring contemporary styles together. The Toi et Moi ring from our Jewellery Box Collection, which features a vibrant tanzanite and deep green tourmaline in a sleek rubover setting, caught her eye. Inspired by its clean, modern lines, we discussed ways to transform her heirloom into something equally striking.

To help her visualise the possibilities, Narell created three design variations. The chosen design honoured the original setup, repurposing the old cut diamond and sapphire while keeping the ring simple yet elegant. To enhance the vibrancy of the sapphire, we repolished its facets, ensuring it sparkled just as brilliantly as the diamond.

For the setting, we moved away from the original platinum, opting instead for rich yellow gold. This not only added warmth but also beautifully accentuated the blue tones of the sapphire. The finishing touch was the inclusion of the smaller old cut diamonds on the shoulders, tying the design together perfectly.

The final result is a stunning custom Toi et Moi ring that reimagines our client’s heirloom to fit her style whilst preserving the sentimental value of the original piece.
