Honouring family history and celebrating the origins of your descendants can often provide inspiration for a bespoke piece of jewellery. This 9ct gold lantern pendant was commissioned by a client for his Italian wife, to create a necklace inspired by the Venetian lanterns of her homeland. 
 
The pendant was created using CAD marrying the classic design principles of the antique style lantern, with the precision and perfection that modern tools can provide. The lantern was then cleverly assembled in the workshop, using tension setting – a technique where pressure is used to hold the stone in place – to set the client’s rough green tourmaline into the piece. 
 
The unique stone brings to mind a flickering candle flame at dusk in Venice, creating an atmospheric, meaningful piece, destined to become a treasured keepsake.
