Did W&W Jewellery discover Taylor Swift’s old-mine cut diamond?

10-carat antique cushion old-mine cut diamond

When Taylor Swift’s bespoke engagement ring made headlines, the diamond‑world collectively did a double take. The elongated proportions of the 10-carat old-mine cut diamond which now sits at the heart of Taylor Swift’s engagement ring are incredibly rare.

The diamond’s rarity, instantly recognisable shape and specific dimensions caught our attention too, but for a different reason. In May 2025 we handled the sale of a 10-carat old-mine cut diamond from an inherited jewellery collection for a private client. We achieved a fantastic outcome for our client, selling the diamond into the international trade through a leading UK based contact.

We knew that this rare diamond was due to be shown in the US, and our jaws dropped when we saw the picture of Taylor and Kelce’s engagement in the press. The similarity between Taylor’s diamond and the stone we handled in May is uncanny, and the timeline fits perfectly for Kindred Lubeck from Artifex Fine Jewellery to have used it as the centrepiece to this now iconic engagement ring.

Could it be the same diamond? Did we discover and handle the very focus of Taylor Swift’s engagement ring? We would love to think it is the same stone but may never know for certain.

Swift’s incredible old-mine cut diamond reminds us of what makes unique natural diamonds and gemstones so special: history, personality, and soul, which simply can’t be replicated by synthetic stones. That tension, between flawless uniformity and being gloriously unique, drives demand for antique and vintage cut stones. Consumers are gravitating toward gems that show provenance and character, which can only come from natural diamonds with stories to tell.

We can’t confirm whether Taylor’s particular diamond passed through our hands back in May, but we can say this: we have access to some incredible jewels and source truly unique diamonds and gemstones that leave a lasting impression – stones that cannot be replicated. We source diamonds and gemstones that our clients dream of, from perfect Sri Lankan sapphires to globally significant old-mine cut diamonds, with a story like no other.

“And what a diamond! The ‘old-mine’ cut is rarely seen these days, but the design goes all the way back to the 18th century. The facets follow the shape of the rough diamond and are positioned to bring out the depth and beauty of the stone.
Taylor’s ring might be extraordinary in its size and rarity. But it is a reminder that every natural diamond is a unique and ancient treasure from the Earth – as special as the couple it brings together.”
