Every so often, a commission comes along that allows us to explore pure expression – bold colour, confident scale, and structural artistry. For this long-term returning client, we had previously created several diamond pieces, but this time the brief was very different. She wanted to create a custom dress ring that stood apart from her everyday jewellery: a statement cocktail ring that was vibrant, architectural, and unapologetically her.

From the outset, the design revolved around colour. The choice of deep violet amethyst set the tone – rich, dramatic, and full of personality. Around it, we created a diamond halo to frame the centre stone with light and precision, adding just the right amount of brilliance without stealing the focus from the amethyst itself. The diamonds were hand-selected for their fine white sparkle, creating a crisp contrast against the gemstone’s saturated purple hue.

Because of the scale of the stone, the ring needed to be engineered with exceptional structure and balance. The platinum framework was carefully designed to support the gem securely while ensuring the ring sat perfectly on the hand – sculptural yet refined, striking without being heavy. It is a piece that commands attention from every angle, blending technical craftsmanship with artistic flair.

This commission also held a deeper meaning for her. While her other pieces had been lovingly gifted, this one was commissioned purely for herself – a celebration of confidence, individuality, and self-expression. This custom ring represents her perfectly: elegant, fearless, and effortlessly cool.
