Sapphire and Diamond Custom Cluster Ring

This custom cluster ring was commissioned by a client who wanted to create a bespoke piece centred around a beautifully saturated blue sapphire. While she was drawn to the romance and character of vintage jewellery, she wanted the reassurance and longevity of a newly made piece, designed specifically for her.

The design process began with sourcing a selection of sapphires with the colour, proportions and personality she was looking for. Once the final sapphire had been chosen, the surrounding design was developed around the stone itself, ensuring every element complemented its rich royal blue hue.

To capture a vintage-inspired aesthetic, the sapphire was framed by a cluster of individually set round brilliant-cut diamonds, each finished with delicate millegrain detailing. The varied diamond sizes create a soft, floral silhouette reminiscent of antique cluster rings, while the handcrafted setting gives the piece a refined and balanced appearance from every angle.

The ring was made in a combination of yellow and white gold, allowing the warmth of the yellow gold shank to complement the overall design whilst letting the white gold setting enhance the brilliance of both the diamonds and the sapphire.

The finished custom cluster ring perfectly balances old and new. It captures the elegance and charm of antique jewellery while benefiting from modern craftsmanship and contemporary wearability. The result is a timeless sapphire and diamond ring designed to be treasured for generations.
