Some engagement ring stories begin with a sketch, others with a gemstone. For this couple, it all began with heirloom old cut diamonds and a heartfelt proposal. Recommended to W&W Jewellery by his mother, our client came to our Clapham studio with a collection of old cut diamonds he already owned, hoping to weave them into a bespoke engagement ring that also featured emeralds – a gemstone his fiancée had always adored.
He initially proposed with the diamonds alone. Once she said yes, he invited his fiancée to join him at the studio, where together they could design her forever ring. To make it extra special, we created a personalised invitation for her engagement ring appointment – ensuring the process was a beautiful, creative experience right from the very beginning.
When the couple arrived, we showed them a selection of our previous bespoke engagement ring designs for inspiration. She was instantly drawn to one creation in particular – a trefoil arrangement with elegant symmetry and a vintage touch. Using this piece as inspiration we created a unique bespoke design which perfectly showcased the heritage diamonds, as well as the vivid hand-picked pear-cut emeralds we sourced.
The finished ring combines the gentle charm of an antique old cut diamond with the crisp geometry of a modern trefoil design. The centre diamond sits proudly in rich yellow gold, flanked by bright white accent stones and framed by deep green emeralds that bring a lively contrast. Its open basket setting allows light to pour through the stones, creating a delicate play of brilliance and colour.
Handcrafted in our London jewellery workshop, this ring is a celebration of love, heritage, and artistry – blending the warmth of old-world romance with the refinement of contemporary bespoke jewellery design.
