When one of our clients approached us with his dream of proposing, his enthusiasm was infectious. He was inspired by one of our previous commissions and had decided that the centrepiece should be a pear-cut diamond. However, he wanted to go beyond the ordinary, ensuring every detail reflected thoughtfulness and elegance.

The beauty of designing a bespoke engagement ring lies in the freedom to select every element. For this client, the diamond had to take centre stage, radiating brilliance with minimal distraction. His vision was a floating effect for the diamond, achieved by an exceptionally delicate setting. However, he was also keen to incorporate a hidden touch to add a little more sparkle without overshadowing the centre stone.

Simon, our expert jeweller, curated an exquisite selection of pear-cut diamonds, showcasing a variety of sizes. Among them, one diamond stood out, not only for its impressive size but for its impeccable proportions, symmetry, and dazzling brilliance — a true showstopper. With the diamond chosen, the next step was translating the client’s vision into a design.

Narell, our jewellery designer, presented two concepts: one with five talon claws and another featuring a v-claw and two talon claws. The latter was favoured for its ability to enhance the floating illusion with minimal metalwork. To complement the diamond’s magnificence, the setting was crafted in platinum, a choice that perfectly blends durability with understated sophistication and a yellow gold band for a contemporary feel.

To add a discreet yet dazzling touch, we incorporated a hidden halo of diamonds beneath the centre stone—a stunning detail that brings a subtle sparkle from every angle. From concept to completion, Simon guided our client through each step, answering questions and ensuring his vision was brought to life flawlessly.
