Remodelling inherited diamond jewellery is one of the most meaningful parts of our work at W&W. For this special commission, our client asked us to transform diamonds from her mother’s unworn pieces into a platinum ring that captured both sentiment and contemporary style. By understanding the proportions, silhouettes and visual balance she naturally gravitates towards, we designed a piece that felt beautifully familiar while entirely new.
Rich in memory and crafted with intention, the ring draws inspiration from her existing jewellery. Subtle cues in the pieces she already loved guided the design process, helping us create a style that felt instantly comfortable on her hand. To ensure the finished ring reflected both her taste and the emotional significance of the original pieces, we explored a number of layout options using her inherited stones. This project was a perfect example of how remodelling inherited diamond jewellery can create a new design that honours the past while celebrating personal style.
One of the key elements of the design was the relationship between the diamonds and light. Each stone was thoughtfully spaced within a high-polished platinum framework, allowing brilliance to move freely around the setting and amplifying sparkle from every angle. The open structure gives the piece its sculptural feel, elevating the diamonds without overwhelming them.
Before crafting the final ring, we produced a highly detailed 3D-printed model. This allowed our client to try the design on, understand the proportions, and see how the reimagined diamonds would feel in everyday wear. This step in the bespoke process provides clarity and confidence, especially when working with sentimental stones.
The finished ring is a celebration of craftsmanship, memory and individuality. It demonstrates how inherited diamond jewellery can be remodelled into a contemporary heirloom, carrying forward family history while becoming something entirely new. Designed and handcrafted in our Clapham–Battersea studio, it now shines with renewed meaning — a connection between generations, transformed with care.
