Multi-Gemstone Bespoke Wedding Band
A wedding band does not have to follow convention. For this client, the brief was to create a bespoke wedding ring that felt entirely individual.
From the outset, she knew she wanted a wide wedding band with strong presence on the hand. Rather than choosing a traditional plain or uniformly diamond-set design, our client wanted something more unexpected to sit alongside her engagement ring. Playful, colourful and entirely personal to her.
During her consultation with Simon at our London bespoke jewellery studio, they explored the colours, gemstones and shapes she was naturally drawn to. There was no particular symbolism behind the chosen palette, she simply loved the combination. And sometimes that is reason enough.
Simon sourced a selection of aquamarines, pink sapphires and diamonds in different cuts and proportions. Pear and oval shapes were considered for the coloured gemstones, alongside round, oval and cushion-cut diamonds, allowing the final combination to evolve as she selected her favourites.
With the gemstones chosen, attention turned to their placement. Our client loved the idea of the stones appearing almost as though they had been dropped onto the surface of the ring, each landing at a slightly different angle rather than following a symmetrical pattern.
The gemstones were flush set into the yellow gold band, keeping the silhouette beautifully smooth while allowing their different shapes and colours to become the focus. A pink sapphire, pear-shaped aquamarine and diamond create a wonderfully individual combination, with their seemingly spontaneous placement bringing movement to the design.
The finished ring is bold, colourful and beautiful. It is a lovely example of the opportunities a bespoke wedding band allows. From the perfect width and profile, to the choice of precious metal, gemstones, cuts and setting style, every detail can be considered around the person who will wear it.
