Following the creation of our client’s exquisite bespoke W&W engagement ring, she returned to us with a very special commission.

Her engagement ring focused around a striking central diamond taken from a treasured family ring. This left behind an heirloom with an elegant platinum shank, holding beautiful, tapered side diamonds, but an empty central setting.

During the original design process for her engagement ring, we had discussed how we might one day breathe new life into this family ring. With the centre diamond now gracing her engagement piece, it felt only natural to find a new focal point – something equally significant and personal. After some thoughtful reflection, she decided that she would love a yellow gemstone. From there, we began a search for a natural yellow sapphire that would perfectly complement the existing tapered diamonds.

We curated a selection of generous yellow sapphires, spanning soft, pale hues to rich vibrant tones. All the gemstones we presented were natural, unheated, and untreated – qualities we believe reflect the purest expression of a precious gemstone. Among them, one sapphire stood out: the palest of the group, with a subtly complex cut that revealed a deeper, almost hidden yellow at its heart. An elegant and entirely distinctive stone.

With a meaningful date approaching, we were asked to bring the design to life. We retained the original platinum band, crafting new settings in yellow gold to echo and enhance the warmth of the sapphire. Every detail was made by hand, in the same style as the original ring – a loving homage to the piece that began it all.
