As London bespoke jewellery designers, we are constantly pushing the limits of creativity, to craft exquisite jewels that bring joy and meaning to those who wear them. Our custom jewellery creations are a true reflection of the wearer, thoughtfully shaped by their story, lifestyle, and aspirations. Yet, once a year, we embrace the thrill of unbridled imagination to create a design without limits. This year, our collaboration with Sanlorenzo Yachts UK brought that vision to life in the most spectacular way.
As creators of luxury custom superyachts, Sanlorenzo understands that the journey is just as important as the destination, crafting masterpieces that uniquely and beautifully reflect the individuality of their owners.
The Gemstones
Our journey began back in May on the deck of the Sanlorenzo SL90A at the 2024 British Motor Yacht Show. Here we met Susannah Hart from Sanlorenzo Yachts UK, our key collaborator on this project. Following a tour of this exclusive vessel, we unveiled a selection of exquisite gemstones, sparking the creation of a jewellery concept designed to capture the essence of Sanlorenzo and its extraordinary bespoke interiors.
Amongst the collection of gemstones, Susannah was drawn to a stunning blue oval zircon as well as a pair of cushion-cut peach bi-coloured tourmalines, reminiscent of the ocean’s hues when the sun dips below the horizon.
The Inspiration
Drawing inspiration from Sanlorenzo’s fleet of handcrafted custom yachts and superyachts, we found an abundance of details, shapes and textures to fuel our creativity. From bespoke staircases to the sleek curves of the vessel itself, every element offered incredible inspiration – leaving us with only one challenge: deciding which captivating direction to pursue!
The Bespoke Designs
Unable to settle on just one path, Narell identified three possible concepts. The first inspired by the gentle and distinctive curve of the Sanlorenzo SL90A bow, the second pulling from the sleek shape of the boat’s flybridge and the third from the gentle slope of one of the windowsills, reminiscent of the gentle waves of the ocean. Embodying the essence of Sanlorenzo’s quiet luxury, each design was crafted to strike a perfect balance between spectacular and sophisticated.
During the second consultation, Narell presented Susannah with each concept, carefully gauging her response to the designs. The Bow Concept stood out as a clear favourite, admired not only for its aesthetic appeal but also for the meaningful symbolism in the link motif Narell had created. Initially envisioned as a pair of drop earrings, they explored other possibilities for the design and ultimately decided to pivot to a necklace design, featuring the beautiful blue zircon at the centre.
With the concept agreed and the perfect jewellery item identified, Narell returned to the W&W studio in Clapham, London to hone the details of the final design.
The Final Reveal – The “Of the Sea” Necklace
The final design combines the feeling of freedom at sea with the luxury and refinement synonymous with a Sanlorenzo yacht. A perfect balance of timeless beauty and contemporary style, this elegant piece is designed to make a statement.
The necklace focuses around a 6.50ct blue oval zircon held in a central bezel setting between sixty-six articulated and graduated platinum links inspired by the Sanlorenzo SL90A’s signature bow shape. The satin finished links are set with over three hundred and fifty round brilliant cut diamonds totalling 3.50ct.
The design, titled The “Of the Sea” Necklace, was revealed to Susannah at our London bespoke jewellery studio in Clapham where she was presented with a framed painting of the final creation. To us, the process is as much a part of bespoke jewellery as the final outcome. So we documented the journey of the design, from Narell’s initial rough sketches, right through to the refined and exquisite finished result, on a portal on our website to which Susannah has exclusive access.
“The ‘Of the Sea’ Necklace concept is not just stunning, it is a unique work of art crafted with such consideration and attention to detail,” says Susannah. “We always say that creating your perfect Sanlorenzo is a journey we’ll take together and, mirroring our philosophy, Narell and the team at W&W Jewellery have taken us on the most incredible journey in the creation of this utterly exquisite design.”
The “Of the Sea” Necklace is now available to commission. If you are interested in this piece or would like to further explore any designs inspired by this project, please do get in touch on 020 7924 2386.
