The Meaning Behind the Jewellery

Every piece of W&W jewellery has meaning, but recently we have been making more and more pieces with special stories. Historically, jewellery has always been full of sentiment, from simple medieval posy rings engraved with a message of love or devotion, to the public displays of affection captured in the most spectacular jewels of 20th century Hollywood.

Marking important moments in time and incorporating birthstones to represent family members, below we look at some of the beautiful ways you can keep loved ones close.

Beautiful Birthstones

Including birthstones is a special way to represent those you hold dear in a bespoke piece of jewellery.

This pretty pairing was created as a treat for our client’s two daughters. Featuring each girl’s birthstone – a London blue topaz for November and a green tsavorite garnet for January – the rings also include gemstones to represent the rest of the family – aquamarine for Mummy and a diamond for Daddy.

In the Eye of the Beholder

Many of our clients choose gemstones to symbolise something personal to them. This spectacular necklace features a beautiful aquamarine to represent the blue eyes of our client’s son, a yellow sapphire for her daughter’s sunny disposition and a treasured diamond given by her husband.

This classic eternity ring spans three generations featuring inherited family diamonds and a single specially selected cognac diamond to mark a new arrival. It is a lovely example of how a simple enhancement can be so effective and mean so much.

Telling Your Story

Some of our jewellery has a story written into every detail of the design. A wonderful example is this stunning ethical engagement ring. From the 1.29ct oval diamond which represents the couple’s lucky number to the sapphires specially sourced from Australia, this personal piece was made to embody what is important to the client, right down to the Fairtrade gold band.
